Giacomo Fuga - Pianoforte
Born in 1962, Giacomo Fuga was awarded his diploma in piano, summa cum laude, at the Conservatorio Verdi in Turin when he was seventeen, followed by studies in composition and orchestral conducting. Prizes in international piano competitions include the Monza Rina Salagallo (1980), the Viotti-Valsesia and the Viotti of Vercelli (1981). His subsequent career as a soloist has brought performances at the Salle Cortot, Paris; the Stefaniensaal, Graz; the Conservatoire, Geneva; the Bunka Kaikan Concert Hall, Tokyo; the RAI Auditorium, Turin; the Sala Verdi, Milan; the auditorium of the Foro Italico of Rome and elsewhere. From 1987 he was a member of the Trio di Torino, winner of first prize in the Vercelli G.B. Viotti International Competition (1990) and second prize at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in April 1993. In 1995 he was awarded second prize in the quintet category at the Trapani International Chamber Music Competition. His recordings include works by Fauré, Dukas, Bizet and Sandro Fuga and, with the Trio di Torino, works including music by Chopin, Brahms, Dvořák, Shostakovich and Rachmaninov. For some years he has performed piano music for four hands with his sister Carlotta. Giacomo Fuga is a senior professor of piano at the Torino “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatorio.
