Guido Rimonda - Violin
Guido Rimonda is one of the most complete and fascinating music personalities among the Italian violinists of our time. During his studies at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory of Turin, is charmed by Gian Battista Viotti’s works and life. After cleverly succeeding his specialization with Corrado Romano, in Geneva, he devoted himself to the Piedmontese composer’s esteem establishing several activities dedicated to him. In 1992 founds the Camerata Ducale Orchestra and in 1998, in partnership with the city of Vercelli, is among the sponsors of the Viotti Festival, taking on the role of Music Director. In the meantime, he keeps playing abroad and in the main Italian concert halls. He also has an intense recording activity. In 2012 signs an exclusive contract with DECCA for the Viotti Project: the recording of 15 CDs with the complete collection of Viotti’s works for violin and orchestra, including several unreleased compositions and world premiere recordings. The unquestionable value of this discographic project, set to be completed in 2018, has promptly drawn the medias attention. Interviews and reviews has been published by the specialist and general press (Espresso, Classic Voice, Amadeus, Musica, Il Giornale della Musica, La Stampa, Il Manifesto, La Repubblica, Il Corriere della Sera, Il Giorno, Il Resto del Carlino, La Nazione); Furthermore some of the main Italian radio stations has shown interest in the project like Radio Tre, Radio Classica, Radio 24, Radio Popolare and Radio Vaticana. He has also released with DECCA “Le Violon Noir”, an album focused on mystery music.
Guido Rimonda has his violin class at the “Guido Cantelli” Conservatory of Novara. He plays the 1721 Stradivari violin “Jean Marie Leclair” defined by G.B. Somis as “an angel’s voice”.
